Who here is probably going to be doing less going out and more cooking at home, in the immediate future? 🙋 Yeah, me too. All the meal prep reminded me of a hilarious/informative video series by Epicurious that I think y’all might find super useful. Or at least it might be good for a laugh, which is always useful.
Each segment of Epicurious’ Basic Skills Challenge has the same setup:
- 50 people are assigned a task (mince garlic, cut up a bell pepper, etc.)
- We watch a quick montage of their varying levels of success (ninja knife skills!) and failure (“what IS this?!)
- Finally, a professional steps in to show us step-by-step.
Watching these bite-size (pun totally intended) episodes about cooking prep is entertaining , but also kind of reassuring. The show makes it obvious: we ALL have our blind spots when it comes to our “adulting” skills. The show invites you to laugh along with everyone, and not feel so bad about your own skills that you might need to brush up on.
